This was completed in Affinity Designer2 using its vector illustration tools. Illustration creates a cool "construction paper cutout" look that lets you add as much detail as you're able, without bogging down the file size. It also has the benefit of being TOTALLY scalable, so the illustrations of the CD booklet could be repurposed for web, posters, vinyl, clothing - you name it!
The design was intended to visually represent the concept of being "Canadian Famous"; Subtly self deprecating, the protagonists are miniscule in the background of the "big picture", but are the focus of more illustrious Canadian icons.
I like vector illustration because detail can be added, but it still looks cool at any step along the way.
(BTW - I also manage the official Arrogant Worms Website)
General Framing and Colour Scheme
Silhouette and lighting references were created in Sketchup. Basic models were readily available in the "warehouse"
Character silhouettes were illustrated, and Worm Logo Placed
Building mountain detail, recoloured framing, and relocated Canadian flag. My wife can be credited with the idea to move the flag.
Completed finer detail, relocated the logo back to try and alternate location, and moved the characters to be in the landscape, rather than in the frame.
Returned the logo to it's original location and softened the silhouettes with a midtone.
